✨Long Lines...anywhere: People simply hate waiting. Whether it's for food or for a drink at the bar. Make sure your food service style is conducive to your guest count. Keep the bar lines short by having enough bartenders to serve everyone promptly. We say 1 bartender to every 50 guests is ideal.

✨The Food: While it may be tempting to conserve funds by keeping catering costs to the lowest possible price tag - serving your guests sub-par food certainly won't keep them at your wedding! You will likely see many guests depart early because they are hungry for a better quality meal

✨Space: An open floor plan that allows guests to flow around the room comfortably, is a win. Few things will dampen your guests' experience more than feeling like you were more focused on having as many people as possible at your wedding than it was for them to actually enjoy being there...or worse, seeing that they were put in the "Tier 3 Guest List" section outside.

✨Weather: If you are planning to have any part of your wedding outdoors, consider the temperatures and weather patterns for that time of year before committing to a date or an outdoor wedding.

Any mother of a boy knows, there is about a 50% chance that he is going to be a mama’s boy. As fate would have it, mine was more like 85% mamas boy.

So this leads to the story behind our very different song choice for the mother/son dance. Started out normal enough - Days Like This by Van Morrison. After the first verse, it transitions to Dear Mama by Tupac with Anthony rapping to me right along with the song. For as long as I can remember, he would rap this song to me. He would send me videos of himself driving in the car rapping along with the song, sitting in the barracks rapping along with the song, deployed to the middle east rapping along with it etc. Although a lot of the subject matter in the song was never descriptive of me, or of him for that matter - it was the overall message of the song that he wanted to convey to me, that meant something to him…and thereby, to me.

Hi, Tracy here! I am composing this post because this particular wedding was extra special to us.

The groom was my oldest son, Anthony, active duty USAF ✈️who was deployed during the entire wedding planning process. Because deployments are unaccompanied, his bride Alyssa, had to remain in Huntsville to prepare for the wedding while also raising their son Grey.

😳Planning a wedding is challenging enough but doing all of that under the stress of raising a child and having a spouse on the other side of the world, brings an entirely different set of challenges to the table. Alyssa handled it with grace and strength...and a little guidance from a wedding planner mother-in-law trying really hard not to step in and just take control! 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

💒The wedding was seamless, thanks to the amazing team of vendors and the EP team! Sure, I had a hard time just sitting back and being a guest but I did it and am so grateful that I was able to relax and enjoy every part of the day with them and my family.

⏳Being able to be in the moment on their wedding day was especially important...because this would be the last day I would have with them and my grandson for a while. The next day, they would be leaving for Anthony’s next duty station in the UK, for 3 years!! The knowledge that this would be my last day with them, and with my grandson, until who knows when...was surreal and very emotional.😭

👍As a planner, I already know how important it is for the parents to be able to be part of the day with their son or daughter...but being on the other side for once, really reinforced that!
✅So when we say that a Wedding Planner should be the FIRST thing you do after you get engaged....We aren’t saying that just to get your business, it’s coming from a place of personal experience and knowing first hand how valuable the role of a wedding planner really is not just for the couple…but for the family as well!
🙏Don’t just do it for yourself, do it for your loved ones so they can look back and be able to remember every special moment of that journey with you....not how stressful the planning and wedding day was for them because you felt like having a wedding planner wasn’t “necessary”.

Don’t clutter up your bar top by displaying all of the alcohol offerings or with unnecessary “stuff”! We see a lot of bars doing both and while it might be nice for an aesthetic photo, it’s just not practical if you are focused on the bars purpose.
Quick drink service to your guests without them having to reach or walk over, around, under all the “stuff” put there to make it look pretty.
Dress your bar….yes, some flowers, definitely a bar menu and maybe a small lamp if you have a large bar….but you can dress it up without making it overly busy looking!

This wedding was the perfect example of how it takes a trusting client, a cohesive design plan and experienced vendors all working in unison to make a wedding day truly great and not just another carbon copy wedding!

A design concept isn’t just about the cake or the bar or the centerpieces. It’s about a collection of all of the elements working together to complement one another.
The linens should compliment the centerpieces, the centerpieces should compliment the bar style, the bar style should compliment the lighting, the dress should compliment the venue, the lighting should compliment the furniture, and the menu should really compliment everything. 🤪
Now take all of those and pair them as many different ways as you can. If you can’t put the word “compliments” in between the plethora of combinations and it be a true statement….you’re doing it wrong and you need to go back to the drawing board!

This is why you need to trust your planner, your designer and a team of vendors with experience, to know what will yield the best possible outcome for your wedding…instead of corners on the wrong things (or failing to make sure you don’t have a vision and and guest list that overpower your budget)
If you offer the cheapest food you could find, no one will stay for the band that you spent thousands on - because they are going to leave early to go eat some decent food. If you skimped on the design - your photographer has nothing worth photographing to tell the story of how your wedding day l👀ked.
